Join Learning Life’s Fundraising Team

Want fundraising experience, or have fundraising experience and want to support Learning Life’s work?

Then apply to join Learning Life’s fundraising team.  No prior fundraising experience necessary.  Email paul@learninglife.info with your resume, and indicate in your email that you would like to join the fundraising team.  Paul will then contact you to schedule an introductory meeting, and answer any questions you may have.

The fundraising team generally meets weekly via Zoom to share updates and discuss, though if you are not a Learning Life intern or paid staff, you can determine how often you wish to meet with the team (we recommend bi-weekly or monthly).  Between meetings, team members accomplish the goals they set for themselves, working independently or with other team members.  Time commitment depends on the fundraising activities you take on, and the number of weekly meetings you choose to attend.

Here are just a few of the many possible fundraising activities team members can help with:

  1. Model being a strong donor by becoming a monthly sustainer, and/or giving 1-10% of your annual income to Learning Life.
  2. Set a personal fundraising goal and make personal asks or organize a fundraising event, like a democracy dessert or diplomacy dessert online or in person with your friends, family and/or colleagues at your home or office.
  3. Help with SEO or Google Ads to boost online connections and donations.
  4. Recruit others to join Learning Life’s fundraising team, or well-known people to support Learning Life in some way.
  5. Help identify new Learning Life donors via research and outreach to individuals and organizations.
  6. Help identify organizations (churches, civic groups, businesses, professional associations, etc.) willing to sponsor, donate a percentage of sales, cash, materials, or labor to support Learning Life’s work.
  7. Help draft and submit grant applications, and/or initiate and build relationships with relevant foundations.
  8. Engage potential donors in Learning Life programs events, like our Democracy Dinners or the Democracy Festival in the Washington DC area, or online, our Family Diplomacy Dialogues or Citizen Diplomacy International quarterly meetings.
  9. Gather testimonials from program participants about the impact or benefits of Learning Life.
  10. For your birthday or another special occasion (e.g., Christmas, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, etc.), organize an online fundraiser for Learning Life via Facebook or another social media or fundraising platform, with a specific, deadlined fundraising goal.
  11. Organize a charity walk, ride, run, game, or other engaging physical or outdoor activity or challenge for Learning Life.
  12. Run a crowdfunding campaign to benefit Learning Life.
  13. Run an auction or sale of art, baked goods, furniture, your professional skills, or else to support a Learning Life project or program of your choice.
  14. Bring Learning Life to the attention of local to international media.
  15. Schedule meetings to introduce Learning Life’s founder to individuals and/or organizations that may be interested in supporting Learning Life’s work.
